Benders buys Floda Cementgjuteri AB

2010-12-22

Benders Sverige AB, Sweden’s leading manufacturer of concrete products for roofing, landscaping and pinned kerbing (Spikma), has acquired Floda Cement in Floda.

Family-owned Benders has acquired all the shares in Floda Cement. The purchase ensures continued development at the factory in Floda and creates scope for further investments. With some 400 employees, Benders’ current turnover is around SEK 1 billion. Floda Cement has 9 employees and a turnover of approximately SEK 20 million.

Floda Cement has been making concrete products for more than 80 years. In the most recent of these, it has been the market leader in L-shaped retaining wall elements in western Sweden. Through in-house development of manufacturing technology and well-planned local logistics, the company has, in its product segment, served all of Gothenburg and the surrounding area. The former owners feel that, by selling to Benders, the family spirit is being maintained. They also feel that the products now being developed will, by creating more employment opportunities, bring further benefits to the area.

Benders Sverige AB (founded in 1960 by Karl-Erik Bender) feels that the purchase of Floda Cement ensures further expansion in the precast concrete product segment. Thanks to major investment in manufacturing, logistics and marketing, the company has now established corporate presences in Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Germany, Finland and Estonia. Benders’ products are sold in 18 countries and the brand is well-known amongst building product retailers throughout Europe. Floda Cement fits well into Benders’ product ranges. The acquisition secures synergies in purchasing, production technology and logistics.
